Ban Fracking Waste
We have been working on banning fracking waste since March 2015 by petitioning our towns to pass an ordinance banning the use of fracking waste in the town. We produced a petition for the ordinance (attachment 3) and a fact sheet (attachment 4). There is a moratorium in Connecticut on accepting the waste from hydraulic fracking until the legislative session of 2017. Many people are concerned that the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will write regulations that will allow hazardous waste companies in Connecticut to accept fracking waste from Pennsylvania without adequately decontaminating the waste. We are advocating for a complete ban on accepting fracking waste.
